About the One Armed Potter

Looking for something different?
Looking for that unique piece of pottery?
Ever heard of a one armed potter?

I lost the use of my right arm after a motorbike accident in 2003. Then a few years ago I was given the opportunity to try pottery at Dartington in Devon and spent a couple of years learning how to make stuff using only one hand.

It was not easy and there was much frustration but I persevered and now have my own home studio in Hayle, Cornwall.

I stamp all of my pieces with the OneArmedPotter stamp and because I do it all one handed. No two pieces will ever be the same and I think that that’s the point!

From turning on the wheel through to glazing and firing its all done with only the use of my left hand.

I hope you like what you see and that you see something you like.

Thank you
Gary (OneArmedPotter)
